I am never quite sure how an engagement session will go when I am photographing people for the first time. I have a little idea of personalities and expectations, but a lot of times people who aren’t used to being in front of the camera take a bit of warming up. So when I drove out to meet up with Amanda and Chad, I was excited and a bit nervous. I had only met Amanda briefly in a suburban Starbucks and knew immediately that I wanted to photograph their wedding. She was all smiles and lit up as she talked about her plans for transforming their backyard into a wedding oasis. It was perfect.
From the second I rang the doorbell on their country wooded home, the conversation was light and fun and I knew that this session would be the same. Amanda and Chad were ready for adventure, laughter, and a few stolen moments. And that is exactly what it was.
I have a feeling that will be a theme that carries on into their marriage. Whether tromping through foresty paths or swinging on swings in gardens, these two acted like there was nowhere else they wanted to be. I love that. And I firmly believe that their willingness to laugh and find joy in each other will be a giant piece of what makes their marriage strong. I can’t wait for July to celebrate with these two!
